MAC celebrates the festive season with a cornucopia of contemporary craft secreted in 50 identical wooden boxes. This covert exhibition happens before the display in a twist of fate where buyers can purchase a secret artwork, sight unseen, and will only know who's artwork they have at the Opening of the Boxes on 11 November. There are only 50 covetable works of art, contributed by an impressive list of WA artists, to be ‘auctioned’ off to the first fifty buyers.

with every fibre of my being articulates ideas associated with ritual, sacred objects, femininity and the body.  Focusing on fibre and textiles as a diverse medium, the exhibiting artists push the boundaries of the traditional associations of textiles, examining their connection to their own existence, while at the same time, being inspired by women’s ‘craft’, tribal cultures and ancient civilizations.

Originally conceived by textile artist Sarah Zel Chescoe, the exhibition is a celebration of WA fibre and textiles.  The works are created by leading WA textile artists, all with a history of lecturing or studying at Curtin University’s School of Art & Design, who are recognised nationally and internationally for their work.  They include Trish Bygott, Anne Farren, Trish Little, Lorna Murray, Annette Seeman and Katrina Virgona, who are joined by recent graduates Dani Andrée, Bonnie Boogaard, Hannah Farleigh and Elizabeth West – each of whom have demonstrated a unique style of working within the realms of this diverse and expressive medium.
